Taklung Rinpoche was born in Bhutan on the 15 th day of the 4 th month (Tibetan calendar) with numerous auspicious signs. His family lineage evolved from the famous lineage of Khochung Choeje – the lineage that evolved from Khendup Kunga Wangpo, the son of the Great Treasure Revealer Pema Lingpa. At the age of four, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the HE the 14 th Taklung Rinpoche by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and was then enthroned in Rumtek Monastery, the seat of His Holiness Karmapa. Rinpoche was admitted in the monastic discipline in Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim (India) and mastered the reading and writing skills in the traditional way of learning. There, he received initiations and empowerments from H.H the 16th Karmapa and other great Masters.
Taklung Rinpoche At the age of 12, senior monks from his former seat (Taklung Monastery in Kham, Tibet) came to invite Rinpoche to the monastery in Tibet. To fulfil the dreams and aspirations of his followers, he left for Tibet where he studied and received all the teachings and transmissions of the lineage from Masters – Dupwang Tashi Norbu Rinpoche, Khenchen Karma Tsetan , Azom Drukpa, His Holiness Taklung Tseptruel Rinpoche (Taklung Kagyu master) and from many other Masters under their guidance.

Drubwang Tashi Norbu Rinpoche
In Bhutan, Rinpoche established a monastery called Taklung Woesel Jewa Ling Monastery in Drukgyel, Paro Bhutan.Rinpoche received important transmission and instructions on the practice of Mahamudra from Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. Rinpoche also received empowerments and transmissions from 12 th Goshir Gyeltshab Rinpoche and many other masters. To this day, Rinpoche continues his own study and periodic retreats.
