Founded by Taklung Thangpa Tashi Pal in 1180, our monastery stands as one of the four chief schools of the Kagyu tradition, preserving ancient wisdom for future generations.

From our original seat in Tibet to centers worldwide, the Taklung Kagyu tradition continues to flourish, adapting ancient wisdom to contemporary life.
Founded in 1180 by Taklung Thangpa Tashi Pal, we are one of the four chief schools of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Our mission is to preserve and transmit the precious dharma teachings for the benefit of all sentient beings.
